I was wondering how to become a captain on say a 200ft private yacht. I am currently in high school and considering this as a career. Which certifications do I need? How long are the courses? How much would I make? How long would I be out at sea?

So I’ve already taken 3 drafting classes in high school and one in college. I’ve decided that I want to be a yacht designer. It’s still up in the air if I want to actually design the structure, or interior design. But I don’t want to be an interior decorator for homes, just yachts. I’m leaning more towards the structure thing. Where could I go to school in central Florida to become a yacht designer. I do not want to design naval boats or smaller sized boats. And does anyone know of any good grant opportunities or websites???
